१३ मंसिर, काठमाडौं  : सम्मेलनमा आउने विदेशी पाहुनाको सवारी सुरक्षित र व्यवस्थित गर्न भनेर सरकारले आजदेखि चार दिनसम्मका लागि काठमाडौं उपत्याकामा चल्ने सवारीमा जोर बिजोर प्रणाली लागू गरेको हाे ।

बिहीबार बिजोर नम्बर प्लेटका सवारी चलेका छन् । सरकारले एक गैरसरकारी संस्थाले गर्न लागेको कार्यक्रमका लागि आउने विदेशी पाहुनाको आवागमनलाई लक्षित गरी सवारी सञ्चालनमा जोर बिजोर प्रणाली लगाएको छ ।  घन्टौं कुर्दा पनि गाडी नपाएपछि यात्रुहरुले सरकारको जोर-बिजोर लगाउने कदमको आलोचना गरेका छन् । जोर बिजोर प्रणलीले इन्टरनेट सेवा प्रदायक कम्पनीहरुले दैनिक दिनु पर्ने सेवा पनि प्रभाबित पारेको छ । ‘विवादित’ सम्मेलनका लागि सडक नै खाली गराउन लागिएकाे भन्दै सरकारविरुद्ध सर्वसाधारण अाक्राेशित छन् । 

अन्तिम अंक जोर भएका सबै सवारीलाई रोकिएको छ । तीनकुनेसम्म जाने बस पनि पुरै भरिएर आएको छ ।  ट्याक्सी चढौं भन्दा ट्याक्सी मिटरमा  मर्कामा परेका यात्रुलाई हिजो अस्ति लिनेभन्दा दोब्बर भाडा उठाइरहेका छन्  । निजी सवारी धनी पनि सार्वजनिक सवारी चढ्न बाध्य छन् । यसले गर्दा सार्वजनिक सवारीमा उच्च चाप छ । सरकारले यसको व्यवस्थापनका लागि कुनै पहल र प्रयास गरेको छैन ।

An uptick in international visitation to Canada in 2017 and a further 1.8 percent hike in the first three-quarters of this year – including a whopping 47 percent increase from Mexico, thanks to a removal on visa requirements – has meant there was a lot to celebrate as the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) kicked off its annual conference in Gatineau, Quebec, this morning. One of the primary struggles is finding adequate labor, she said. The association, which draws members from all tourism sectors, including transportation, accommodation, and attractions, will shortly launch a Careers in Tourism campaign to encourage locals and will continue to ask the federal government to base immigration on tourism industry requirements, regardless of skill level.

 TIAC President Charlotte Bell, there is much left to do. “Don’t forget we’re only 17^th in the UNWTO ranking of international tourism,” she said, adding that one of her organization’s key goals is to move into the top 10 by 2025. Along the way, TIAC aims to increase international overnight visitation by 21% and double Chinese visitation by 2021.

“In a study we commissioned, 90 percent of Canadians agree that encouraging international travel is important in creating Canadian jobs,” Bell noted. “Politicians, listen to what your constituents are saying.” TIAC also recommends increasing foreign visitors by:

• Streamlining the visa process, increasing the number of countries within Canada’s electronic travel authorization program;
• Reducing taxes paid by international visitors;
• Making Canada’s national tourism marketing organization, Destination Canada, more competitive through stable funding; and
• Having government include tourism as a key factor in policy development across all government departments.

The association’s annual congress continues today and tomorrow with sessions on far-ranging sessions such as cannabis tourism and travel’s technology-driven transformation.

काठमाडौँ, १२ मंसिर : कोटेश्वरबाट भक्तपुर जाने बाटोमा सुरूङ मार्ग बनाउन  सुरूङ मार्ग बनाइने भएको छ । नेकपा नेता पूर्वमन्त्री महेश बस्नेतको अथक प्रयासमा सडक बिभागले निर्माण प्रक्रिया थालेको छ। सडक विभागको विकास सहायता समन्वय महाशाखाका प्रमुख सञ्जयकुमार श्रेष्ठले एक महिनापछि सुरूङको अध्ययन गर्ने जानकारी दिएका छन् । ५ ठाउँमा सदक ट्राफिक बत्ति राख्ने र जडिबुटी, लोकन्थली, कशौलटार, ठिमी लगाएत ठाउँमा दुई तल्ले सर्भिस ट्र्याक बनाउने, जडिबुटीको टंक प्रासाद आचार्यको सालिकसम्म र ठिमी क्षेयारोग अस्पताल एरियामा सर्भिस ट्र्याक निर्माण गर्ने,  र निर्मणाधिन राधे राधेको हनुमन्ते पुल र लोकन्थलिको मनोहरा पुल निर्माणलाई तिब्रता दिने निर्णय भएको थियो। कहाँदेखि कहाँसम्म बनाउने टुंगो लाग्छ । तिनकुने हुँदै बालकुमारी निकाल्ने गरी बनाउने सम्भावना छ । मनोहरा खोलामा अस्थायी पुल बनाइने छ भने मोटरसाइकलका लागि नयाँ सर्भिस ट्र्याक पनि खोलिने छ ।

काठमाडौं  : कांग्रेसको संघीय संरचनासहितको विधान संशोधनको मस्यौदा आइतबारको केन्द्रीय कार्यसमिति बैठकमा महाधिवेशनलाई लक्षित गरी गुटमा रमाएका छन् ।  विधान बनाउने रणनीतिका साथ ध्रुवीकरण शुरु भएको नेताहरूले बताएका छन् । पौडेल समूहले पदाधिकारी संख्या अहिले भएको ६ बाट बढाएर ११ पुर्‍याउनुपर्ने, सबै पदाधिकारी निर्वाचनबाट आउनुपर्ने र सभापतिलाई १५ प्रतिशत मात्रै केन्द्रीय सदस्य मनोनयन गर्ने अधिकार हुनुपर्ने विषयमा प्रस्ताव गरेको छ । विधानमा रहेको पदाधिकारीको संख्याका विषयमा देउवा र पौडेल समूहबीच विवाद छ । सभापतिको प्रस्तावमा केन्द्रीय कार्यसमितिले पदाधिकारी अनुमोदन गर्ने पुरानै व्यवस्था राखिएको छ । सभापति देउवाले केन्द्रीय कार्यसमितिमा प्रस्तुत विधान संशोधन मस्यौदाको पक्षमा सामूहिक आवाज प्रस्तुत गर्न बुधबार आफूनिकट पदाधिकारी र केन्द्रीय सदस्यको भेला बोलाएका छन् ।

काठमाडौं । अरनिको राजमार्ग अन्तर्गतको सूर्यविनायकदेखि धुलिखेलसम्म ८ लेनको सडक तथा सुरुङमार्ग सुरुङमार्ग निर्माणका बारेमा छलफल गर्न  जापानी टोली नेपालमा आइपुगेको छ । बढ्दो सवारी दुर्घटना र ट्राफिक जाम न्यूनीकरण गर्ने उदेश्यले सूर्यविनायक धुलिखेल सडकखण्ड विस्तार गरेर ८ लेनको बनाउन लागिएको हो। काठमाडौं अरनिको राजमार्ग अन्तर्गतको सूर्यविनायकदेखि धुलिखेलसम्म ८ लेन  सुरुङमार्ग निर्माण ऋण सम्झौता ६ महिनापछि हुने भएको हो।   विस्तृत परियोजना प्रतिवेदन (डिपिआर) तयार पारिनेछ। सडक विस्तारका गर्न प्रारम्भिक सर्भे समेत भैसकेको छ।  सुरुङमार्ग निर्माण गर्नका लागि प्रारम्भिक सर्भे रिपोर्ट तयार पारेको छ । जापान सरकारको सहयोगमै निर्माण गरिएको उक्त सडक जोड्ने कोटेश्वर–सूर्यविनायक सडक खण्ड ६ लेनको छ।

Pakistan on Tuesday said it will invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the 20th summit of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), two years after Islamabad’s failed attempt to host the gathering of regional countries following the boycott by India.  On the eve of the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kartarpur Corridor in Narowal, some 120 kms from Lahore. SAARC Summits are usually held biennially hosted by a member state in alphabetical order. The member state hosting the summit assumes the Chair of the Association. The last SAARC Summit in 2014 was held in Kathmandu, which was attended by Modi. SAARC currently has Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka as its members.

Pakistan’s attempt to host the gathering in 2016 failed after India boycotted the summit following the Uri attack in September that year.  India had expressed its inability to participate in the summit due to “prevailing circumstances” after a deadly terrorist attack on an Indian Army camp in Uri in Jammu and Kashmir. Bangladesh, Bhutan and Afghanistan also pulled out of the summit, forcing Pakistan to scrap the event scheduled for November 2016.

 In the history of SAARC since its inception in 1985, the summit has been aborted only thrice. In 1991, Bhutan had opted out from the Colombo summit and in 2005 India withdrew from attending the summit in Dhaka. According to the eight-member body’s charter, the conference is postponed should any member state decline to participate.
