Was she drunk after just one glass of complimentary wine while onboard an Emirates Airlines? The story about a Swedish passenger flying on Emirates airline who was arrested in Dubai with her 4-year-old daughter for having that one drink was recently published. “His Excellency Esam Issa Al Humaidan, Attorney General of Dubai, today confirmed that the Dubai Public Prosecution has completed investigations and closed the case involving a Swedish national who attempted to enter the UAE on an expired passport.

“The incident started with the arrival of the accused with her daughter from London Gatwick Airport on board an Emirates flight. She attempted to enter the country using a Swedish passport, which had already expired on June 10, 2018. She was advised by the immigration officer that she could not enter the country with an expired passport. She then produced an Iranian passport, and was informed by the officer that she could enter the country by issuing a new temporary visa, which allowed a 96-hour stay, and had to change her departure flight according to the new visa.

“Ms. Hollman refused angrily due to the additional payment fees the process would require, and proceeded to verbally insult the immigration officer and take photos of the officer via her phone. “A legal claim was issued against Ms. Holman with charges of profanity and photographing a government official at the border crossing, a restricted area. The woman and her child remained together in the airport security office for less than 24 hours while services were provided to them, taking into full account and consideration of her 4-year-old daughter. Her father received her immediately upon his arrival and they subsequently departed the country. The prosecution decided to drop the charges against Ellie Hollman and to deport her instead.”

काठमाडौं : गणेश लामाको स्रोत नखुलेको डेढ करोड जफत र एक वर्ष कैद ! गुण्डा नाइके गणेश लामा सम्पत्ति शुद्धीकरण मुद्दामा दोषी ठहर भएका छन् । गुन्डागर्दी लगायत आपराधिक गतिविधिबाट २७ करोड १ लाख रुपैयाँ सम्पती जोडेको भन्दै सम्पत्ति शुद्धीकरण अनुसन्धान विभागले मुद्दा दायर गरेको थियो।  विशेष अदालतका न्यायाधीश बाबुराम रेग्मी, द्वारीकामान जोशी, रत्नबहादुर बागचन्दको संयुक्त इजालासले लामालाई दोषी ठहर भएको छ । केन्द्रीय अनुसन्धान ब्युरो (सिआइबी)ले गरेको अनुसन्धानमा आधारीत भएर २०७० साल जेठ ५ गते लामा सहित पाँच जना गुन्डा नाईके विरुद्ध सम्पत्ति शुद्धीकरण अनुसन्धान विभागले मुद्दा दायर भएको थियो।   ‘एक करोड ४० लाख ५० हजार बिगोसम्मको हकमा आरोप दाबी बमोजिमको कसुर गरेको हुँदा निज प्रतिवादी गणेश लामालाई एक वर्ष कैद र सो बराबरको प्रतिवादी लामाको सम्पत्ति जफत हुने फैसला भएको छ ।

जनकपुरधाम : निर्माणाधीन रेलमार्गअन्तर्गत पहिलो चरणमा भारतको जयनगरदेखि कुर्थासम्म र जयनगरबाट खजुरीसम्म ८.५ किलोमिटर रेल सञ्चालन गरिएको छ ।   जयनगर–जनकपुर–बर्दिबास ब्रोडगेज रेलमार्गको पहिलो परीक्षण सञ्चालन बुधबार भारतीय पक्षबाट गरिएको छ ।  भारतीय रेल सञ्जालबाट जोडेर भारतबाटै उपलब्ध इन्जिन नेपालको खजुरीसम्म परीक्षण सञ्चालन गरिएको रेल तथा मेट्रो विकास आयोजना साइट कार्यालयले जनाएको छ ।जयनगर–कुर्थाखण्डमा ट्र्याक ओछ्याउनेदेखि पुल–पुलेसा, रेल स्टेसन, हल्ट निर्माणजस्ता सिभिलतर्फका काम करिब पूरा भइसकेको जनकपुरस्थित रेल विभागको कार्यालयले जनाएको छ । भारत सरकारले इन्जिन र डिब्बा उपलब्ध नगराउने भएपछि नेपाल सरकारले भाडामा लिएर भए पनि रेल सञ्चालन गर्ने तयारी गरिरहेको छ । भारतीय रेल्वेकै चालक र प्राविधिकको रेखदेखमा १० किलोमिटर प्रतिघण्टा भित्रैको गतिमा रेल परीक्षण सञ्चालन भएको थियो । कुल ७० किलोमिटर रेलमार्ग निर्माणका लागि भारत सरकारले सात सय करोड रुपैयाँ सहयोग गरेको छ ।

Deepak Neupane, Kathmandu :  Even as Pakistan’s Prime Minister-in-waiting Imran Khan said last week that he was willing to work towards improving ties with India, his country’s army is readying a plan to push nearly 600 terrorists into Indian territory to wreak havoc in Jammu and Kashmir. According to an intelligence report, accessed by Zee News, 600 terrorists are waiting on the border to infiltrate. They are positioned at various terror launch pads spread along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border in Jammu and Kashmir.

“If they take one step towards us, we will take two, but at least (we) need a start,” 65-year-old Khan said in his first public address after leading his party to victory in the general elections held last week. We want to improve our relations with India, if their leadership also wants it, he had said.

The report submitted to the Union Home Ministry asserts that these terrorists are being actively supported by Pakistani armed forces. Intelligence sources suspect that there are also Pakistan army personnel among the 600 terrorists. They are believed to be members of infamous Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) which is known to provide support to terrorist organisations to launch attacks on Indian security forces from across the border. According to intelligence agencies, this may be the highest number of terrorists readied by Pak forces to infiltrate India after surgical strikes destroyed dozens of launchpads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The Pak Army’s plan comes on the back of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s promise to work towards better ties with India.  However, the action of the Pak Army is contrary to the promise made by Khan. An attempt by Pak Army to send these terrorists to India would jeopardise any chance of peace process. On Tuesday, the Centre had said that 110 terrorists have been killed by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir till July 22 this year. In 2017, the number was at 213 while in 2016 and 2015, it was 150 and 108 respectively.

According to the intelligence report, here are the details of terrorists ready to infiltrate:

1.  Gurez Sector: 67 terrorists present in Pakistan’s posts at Barbad, Sardari, Losar complex.

2. Machil Sector: Movement of 96 terrorists observed.

3. Keran Sector: Movement of 117 terrorists observed.

4. Tangdhar Sector: Movember of 79 terrorists observed.

5. Uri Sector: Movement of 26 terrorists observed.

6. Rampur Sector: Movement of 26 terrorists observed.

7. Poonch Sector: Movement of 43 terrorists observed.

8. Krishna Ghati Sector: Movement of 21 terrorists observed.

9. Bhimber Gali: Movement of 40 terrorists observed.

10. Nowshera Sector: Movement of 6 terrorists observed.

काठमाडाै : गत वर्ष २ अर्ब १५ करोड ६५ लाख ९२ हजार रुपैयाँ पुगको ग्लोबल आइएमई बैंकले गत आर्थिक वर्ष २०७४/७५ मा ७ प्रतिशत अर्थात १५ करोड ०४ लाख ३२ हजार रुपैयाँले नाफा बढाएको छ भने यो बैंकको चुक्ता पुँजी ८ अर्ब ८८ करोड रुपैयाँ छ ।  यो बैंकको खराब कर्जा अनुपात ०.६९ प्रतिशत छ । यसको कर्जा तथा निक्षेप अनुपात (सीसीडी रेसियो) ७५.३५ प्रतिशत छ । बैंकको आधार दर १०.५५ प्रतिशत छ भने औषत व्याजदर ४.८६ प्रतिशत रहेको छ । अघिल्लो वर्ष यस्तो नाफा २ अर्ब ६१ लाख ६० हजार रुपैयाँ रहेको बैंकले जारी गरेको वित्तीय विवरणमा उल्लेख छ ।

Deepak Neupane, Kathmandu, China wants to develop tourist routes in the Arctic region, the Russian Federal Agency for Tourism said. Chinese tourists, it says, are attracted to the area by its unique natural environment and complex ecosystem.  “China does not have Arctic territories, and thus this kind of tourism is of special interest for China – both from the point of view of studies, and from the point of view of new impressions, of new tourism products,”

Despite being a non-Arctic state, China is increasingly active in the polar region. It became an observer member of the Arctic Council in 2013. Beijing announced plans in January to extend the ambitious Belt and Road Initiative to the Arctic by developing shipping routes. The Arctic route from Southeast Asia to Europe cuts transportation time in half compared to traditional routes through the Suez and Panama canals. The Arctic shipping routes are likely to “become important transport routes for international trade.” According to Beijing, it would encourage enterprises to build infrastructure and conduct commercial trial voyages, paving the way for Arctic shipping routes that would form a “Polar Silk Road.”

He added that Chinese tourism operators have visited the Arkhangelsk Region where they studied the local market to see how they could organize trips for Chinese travelers.  According to the Russian official, China has a clear understanding of what the Russian Arctic is like. “Chinese representatives told us they realize that the Arctic region has a complicated and unique ecology. They understand that organizing trips there would be in connection with keeping that unique natural region, and thus the Chinese are ready to implement tourism technologies, to settle issues of control over their tourists’ staying there,” he said. Land territories in the Arctic cover an area of around 8 million sq km, with sovereignty belonging to Russia, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Canada and the United States. The Arctic Ocean is more than 12 million sq km, where coastal and other countries share maritime rights and interests according to international law.
