Woman rejects proposal- jilted man rapes 1-year-old

In a shocking case, a man allegedly raped a baby girl after her mother rejected his proposal. The incident, which happened in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, came to light after woman’s elder daughter gave the statement. The four-year-old was also molested by the accused. According to an HT report, the 20-year-old accused was a distant relative of the family.  The report also quoted a senior official, who said that the man had decided to rape the woman after he started avoiding him. But when he reached her house, the woman was not at her place. To take ‘revenge’ over his rejection, the jilted man instead raped her 1-year-old daughter and molested four-year-old sister during his second visit at night. However, the accused fled when the victim’s relatives rushed to the spot upon hearing her crying for help.

Earlier, a man, accused of raping a nine-year-old girl in Madhya Pradesh’s Rehli, was sentenced to death within 46 days of the incident. The incident took place on May 21, when the accused lured the girl and took her to a nearby temple and raped her.  A case was registered and within 72 hours, it was presented before the Session Court. According to prosecutor P L Rawat, the trial went on for 10 days, in which DNA report confirming the rape was submitted. “The trial went on for 10 days. DNA report was submitted which confirmed the rape.” In April, the Union Cabinet, at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved an ordinance allowing courts to pronounce the death penalty for those convicted of raping children below the age of 12.

Nepal’s Wildlife Conservation Proving to Be Effective

One reason that Nepal has been successful in its wildlife conservation efforts is due to the fact that 23 percent of the area of Nepal is protected by the government. Many nations around the world are having great difficulty in conserving their natural resources and in protecting endangered species that are within the country. Deforestation and poaching are devastating wildlife around the world.  In one nation, the efforts at wildlife conservation are effective. The Asian nation of Nepal is utilizing a number of methods to preserve wildlife and the habitat that is critical for animals and people alike.  Nepal is home to some of the most spectacular animals on the planet. Tigers roam the nation, and Asian rhinos are often seen within the nation as well. The country has a variety of habitats that include forested areas and high mountains that are the home of some endangered snow leopards.

Nepal has 12 national parks as well as reserves and conservation areas. Two of the nation’s national parks are so pristine and spectacular that they are listed by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites.  Nepal has made use of some limited hunting in hunting reserves to help fund their wildlife conservation efforts. No endangered species are allowed to be hunted. However, some other species are allowed to be hunted in a very controlled way to benefit programs for the parks and for the people who live at the park’s boundaries.

The nation of Nepal has benefited in its conservation efforts by enlisting the help of wildlife conservation organizations. The government of Nepal is willing to listen to scientists and experts in the field in order to implement policies that will help sustain wildlife and habitat.  Community-based anti-poaching efforts are also important in Nepal. The government realizes that people have to benefit from the wildlife. The people know that Eco-tourism brings in significant money to the community. For this reason, people in the community are willing to work with the governmental officials to make sure that poachers are exposed and brought to justice.  These are just a few of the ways that Nepal is keeping endangered species from extinction. The nation serves as an example on the right way to help animals in the wild.

Tourism Challenges in Africa

Africa : Tourism in Africa is a challenging business. The whole of Africa countries only attracts 5% of global travelers. And the market is quite competitive. Despite the spatial importance of national parks and other protected areas and increasing threats posed to nature by different agents, successful conservation still remains inconsistent and, in some instances, controversial. Tour operators have to deal with high overhead costs and low-profit margins. Furthermore, this industry is sensitive to shocks caused by disease outbreaks, natural disasters, and political instability. What all these imply is that there’s little money spared for large-scale conservation efforts and/or sustainable community development. And strong competition among tour firms for bookings necessitates promotion of famous animal species like the mountain gorillas in the Virunga massif and the Big 5. The protection of the critically endangered species has also been a major concern for industry players. However, less captivating animals and plants are often overlooked. The hope, for these reasons, placed in ecotourism as part of a solution to Africa’s poverty and conservation problems has not been realized. But all is not lost. There’s a flicker of light beginning to shine at the end of a tunnel. In Rwanda, an organization called Red Rocks Cultural Center, based in Nyakinama Village, 8 kilometers from Musanzethe town is taking a lead in integrating tourism, conservation and
community development around the Volcanoes National Park.  Instead of basing their activities on wistful thinking and profit-driven motif, Red Rocks is changing the narrative by establishing a partnership with other ecotourism ventures, charitable NGOs and volunteers to fulfill its different programs running under Red Rocks Initiatives for Sustainable Development. And these partnerships seem to be working better. Red Rocks ecotourism programs continue to provide environmentally-sensitive employment to the locals, mostly youth and women, and this, in turn, has led to their economic and social development.
Having transformed from a social enterprise to a non-governmental organization operating mostly around the Volcanoes National Park, Red Rocks Initiatives basically target different fields including conservation, responsible tourism and community development as a key
pillars to ensure the local community gains, and have a say, in tourism activities that would eventually uplift their living standards while they actively take part in conservation efforts. Under the program, named Karibu Community Conservation Trust Fund, it was intended to bring in conservationists, conservation lovers and other well-wishers for a comprehensive study of the primates found in the park, which includes the Lowland gorillas together with other primates.
Red Rocks Initiatives also partnered with local visual artists, where they opened an art gallery in Kinigi, the hub of the tourism industry in Musanze, and Rwanda in general to promote conservation and tourism through art classes while the artists also develop artworks that promote conservation and environmental protection for the future survival of endangered animal and plant species. Through these, and a host of innovative programs that Red Rocks Initiatives have established, they hope to bring together tourism and conservation as a conduit of sustainable development around the Volcanoes National Park and the wider Virunna
massif that straddles an expanse land of the three countries of Uganda, Rwanda and DRC.   Red Rocks Initiatives believe that when the local community is empowered through education, and when local communities can gain from thriving tourism in their backyards, then they can be key players to protect the environment and stop activities like poaching that has threatened the lives of many species of animals including the iconic mountain gorillas.

Far Apart- a new day

As they say, it’s a small world. Even in teamwork, we are given all the space and leeway to estimate individual costs and benefits. There is less baggage. It becomes less personal. We don’t share fully with one another. So we are closer yet as far apart as we can make it while together. Goodbyes are less frequent and said less. Even more so with SNS and all the craze these days and yet, we think and feel farther apart from one another. We are bound to have an introduction and individual preparation before even making decisions. Some would say that there is no practice in life and yet they’ve had all the preparation previous generation wish they had growing up.

Some things are better not said yet everybody is aware of what was said. As long as most everyone can tolerate, what happened is agreed upon. Not everything needs to be disclosed. If one or few needs to suffer out of necessity, so be it. Human society as usual. Some say they learned more in the last twenty years than in the last two hundred years. Would the last twenty have been possible without the two thousand building slowly from scratch? We are pressing buttons, regurgitating what we’ve been fed. What we say or do has been done before by those who have gone before us. Technology and cast of character may be different but the same basic human story unfolds again and again. It is best to keep to oneself in most matters. Say something and it becomes a waste. It used to be that you can make mistakes and share. You could cry or sing or shout with one another but not as often these days. We seem to be closer but we are not. We are as far apart as we can be from one another.

Reunion Island Volcano is erupting

The ‘Piton de la Fournaise’ of Reunion Island, a French Indian Ocean Territory erupted at 4:25 am on Saturday, September 15, 2018. The lava gushed on the south flank of the volcano in the ‘Rivals’ crater area. According to the volcanological observatory the seismic crisis began at 1:45am. The volcano had given signs of awakening since the beginning of September. The eruption is visible from Piton Bert. At 4:45 last Saturday, the Prefect of Reunion triggered the alert phase 2-2 “eruption underway in the Fouqué enclosure” of the specific device Orsec volcano. Public access to the Fouqué enclosure, from the Pas de Bellecombe trail or from any other trail, as well as from aircraft in the volcano area, is prohibited until further notice. “A reconnaissance will be carried out and additional measures taken as soon as the eruption will be stabilized” specifies the prefecture.

Swelling of the base and top of the Piton de la Fournaise had been noted by volcanologists about ten days ago. “This recovery in inflation is accompanied by a low seismicity. This inflation is currently slow and its evolution will be to follow in the coming days” had then stressed the volcanologists. The eruption is visible from Piton Bert. The Observatory warns on its Facebook page: “Before starting the march towards the Piton de Bert, do not hesitate to consult the weather on the webcams of the OVPF”. According to the information provided by the volcanological observatory, “the volcanic eruption is boxed in and limited to the ‘Fouqué’ enclosure, where the eruptive fissures have opened on the southern flank of the volcano in the region of the crater Rivals”. At least one crack of about 500 meters opened just below the site of the April 27, 2018 eruption.

Neupane Deepak, Kathmandu, Two routes are taken by the pilgrims to reach their destination that is located at an altitude of 15,160 feet in man sarovar.  Due to the tension brewing on the Sino- Indian border, the route of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through Nathu La in Sikkim has been cancelled. The journey is considered holy by the Hindus, Buddhists and Jains all around the world. PATA Travel Mart 2018

The first full day at the PATA Travel Mart running from September 12-14 in Langkawi, India, generated much interest from the participating countries and companies who revealed their plans and programs with the media at briefings held at the event. These included Nepal, the Himalayan country; Uttarkhand, the Indian State in the Himalayas; Malaysian airports; and Air Asia, which is playing a major role at the event. Nepal highlighted the Visit Nepal 2020 year campaign – the plan to achieve 2 million international tourists by 2020. Part of the campaign is to say that it offers unique, lifetime memories for visitors.

The link of the city of Rishikesh with the Beatles was also recalled when in 1968, the Beatles and a crew of hangers-on traded hip London threads for kurtas and wreaths of marigold. They trudged through dense forest to an ashram in Rishikesh where they spent weeks writing songs.  As far as inclusive tourism goes, Nepal has developed its first accessible trekking trail. It was pointed out that the State offers a lot of investment opportunities for tourism. The expansion and refurbishing of the Langkwai Airport was in focus at the Malaysia Airports briefing, as was the fact that incentives are being given to promote local destinations. In addition, a landing fee waiver is another feature for new airlines and airlines with increasing frequency. The PATA Adventure Travel and Responsible Tourism Conference and Mart 2019 which will be held in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India, from February 13-15, 2019, was highlighted by India’s Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Satya Pal Singh, and PATA CEO Mario Hardy, with both asking delegates to come to the land of peace and yoga.
