Tourists in Paris visiting the iconic Champs-Elysees Avenue and other major landmarks in the heart of Paris had to run for their safety tonight after 260 so-called yellow vest protesters were arrested, nearly 100 injured as Paris. The area in the center of Paris has been covered by thick smoke. Those protesting and pushed back by tear gas are people protesting against a new controversial fuel tax.  They called themselves ‘Yellow Vests. Cars were seen in flames.

Some Yellow Vests say police were eager to disperse them even before the clashes broke out. “We arrived in the morning and we’ve been tear gassed right away. We didn’t even do anything,” a protester told media. Hours into the clashes, Interior Minister Christophe Castaner tweeted that at least 1,500 “disruptors” were on the outskirts of the Champs-Elysees. According to police figures, 92 people, including 14 security officers, were injured and 263 arrested in the Paris chaos. About 75,000 people showed up for the Yellow Vest protests held all across France on Saturday. On Friday, negotiations to settle the issue failed after only two of the protesters’ representatives turned up for a meeting with Prime Minister Edouard Philippe. One of them walked out after he was told he could not have TV cameras covering the negotiations. A recent poll shows that despite the mayhem, two-thirds of people in France still back the Yellow Vest cause.

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra will become husband and wife in a matter of few days but there is still very little that fans know about their love story. However, a new Vogue interview spills beans on everything from their first date, their proposal to their wedding plans.  Their age-difference (Priyanka is ten years older to Nick, who is 26) may have been a point of discussion but turns out Jonas is the serious one out of the two. Priyanka calls him, ‘Old Man Jonas’

Interestingly, Jonas and Chopra didn’t see each other for an entire year after that. Not until the next Met gala. Later that month, Jonas invited Priyanka to a live performance of the Beauty and the Beast at the Chateau Marmont.  “She walks into the Chateau, and I feel an overwhelming sense of peace and understanding about this next chapter of my life,” Jonas said. The next night, they went to the Dodgers game. The following morning, Jonas called his mother and informed her that he was going to marry Chopra. And, this was just their third date. But, you what they say, when it feels right, it’s right. Nick’s brother Joe and his fiance Sophie Turner, then laughted at their little brother, unknown of what was going to conspire. He’s sitting on the floor. And Sophie and I were just laughing at him. We’re like, look at this little smitten, drunk kid right now,” Joe told Vogue.

Priyanka, who will feature on the cover of Vogue’s January issue, has revealed in the interview that they actually began texting each other much before their 2017 Met Gala appearance. Nick, who was totally smitten by Priyanka’s beauty, sent her this message on Twitter in September 2016, “I’m hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet.” Priyanka, who accepted being fiercely secretive about her boyfriends, alerted him that her team can read those messages and asked him to contact her on her personal number instead.  The two then met at the Vanity Fair Oscars party. “And I put my drink down, get on one knee—this is in front of a bunch of people—and I say, ‘You’re real. Where have you been all my life?’ Like, loud,” Nick revealed.

Chopra had a car waiting and a flight to India to catch, but that didn’t stop Jonas from suggesting a drink. And, Priyanka couldn’t turn down the offer.  A week before the 2017 Met Gala, the two met for a proper drink at the Carlyle hotel in New York. Priyanka invited Jonas to her apartment that evening – even though her mother Madhu Chopra was home. “We hung out for a couple of hours… he patted my back before he left,” she said. “There was no kiss. There was nothing,” he confirmed. “There was a back pat,” she said. “She’s still upset about that,” he replied. “Your mom was in the house! I thought it was a respectful first night,” he added. “It was too respectful if you ask me,” Priyanka sarcastically replied.

The couple made the relationship official with a traditional roka ceremony in Mumbai in August. They are set to tie the knot in Jodhpur’s Umaid Bhawan Palace in two ceremonies – a Hindu one and a Christian one – on December 2. “People will need vacations after this wedding,” Chopra feels!  The article further revealed that Priyanka will be the first celebrity to wear a custom Ralph Lauren gown on her wedding. Lauren has made wedding dresses only for his daughter, daughter-in-law, and his niece! Meanwhile, Nick will dress as a traditional Punjabi groom with a customary turban, sword. He will ride in on a horse!

Dding another feather to its cap, ISRO’s workhorse rocket PSLV-C43 Thursday successfully injected into orbit India’s earth observation satellite HysIS.The Hyper Spectral Imaging Satellite (HysIS), an earth observation satellite developed by ISRO, is the primary satellite of the PSLV-C43 mission. The mass of the spacecraft is about 380 kg, the space agency said adding that the satellite would be placed in 636 km-polar sun synchronous orbit with an inclination of 97.957 degree.

The co-passengers of HysIS include 1 micro and 29 nano satellites from eight different countries. All these satellites have been commercially contracted for launch through ISRO’s commercial arm Antrix Corporation Limited. PSLV-C43, which is the 45th flight of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), is the ‘Core Alone’ version of PSLV. It is the lightest version of the launch vehicle. The 30 other co-passenger international satellites including those from the United States of America and Australia among others, will soon be placed into orbit.  The space agency had launched its latest communication satellite GSAT-29 on board GSLV MkIII-D2 on November 14.

The primary goal of HysIS, whose mission life is five years, is to study the earth’s surface in visible near infrared and shortwave infrared regions of the electromagnetic spectrum.

An uptick in international visitation to Canada in 2017 and a further 1.8 percent hike in the first three-quarters of this year – including a whopping 47 percent increase from Mexico, thanks to a removal on visa requirements – has meant there was a lot to celebrate as the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) kicked off its annual conference in Gatineau, Quebec, this morning. One of the primary struggles is finding adequate labor, she said. The association, which draws members from all tourism sectors, including transportation, accommodation, and attractions, will shortly launch a Careers in Tourism campaign to encourage locals and will continue to ask the federal government to base immigration on tourism industry requirements, regardless of skill level.

 TIAC President Charlotte Bell, there is much left to do. “Don’t forget we’re only 17^th in the UNWTO ranking of international tourism,” she said, adding that one of her organization’s key goals is to move into the top 10 by 2025. Along the way, TIAC aims to increase international overnight visitation by 21% and double Chinese visitation by 2021.

“In a study we commissioned, 90 percent of Canadians agree that encouraging international travel is important in creating Canadian jobs,” Bell noted. “Politicians, listen to what your constituents are saying.” TIAC also recommends increasing foreign visitors by:

• Streamlining the visa process, increasing the number of countries within Canada’s electronic travel authorization program;
• Reducing taxes paid by international visitors;
• Making Canada’s national tourism marketing organization, Destination Canada, more competitive through stable funding; and
• Having government include tourism as a key factor in policy development across all government departments.

The association’s annual congress continues today and tomorrow with sessions on far-ranging sessions such as cannabis tourism and travel’s technology-driven transformation.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has curated three concepts for promoting the group of 55 secondary destinations to help develop and market their tourism economies and cultural assets in an environmentally-friendly way. These 55 provinces, which get less than four million local and foreign tourists a year, are to get increasing prominence in TAT’s future marketing campaigns.  A survey of the TAT Intelligence Centre (TATIC) about travel trends showed that in the first half of 2018, the 55 secondary destinations hosted 2,288,164 foreign visitors. The top five source markets were LaoPDr. (513,046), China (235,573), United Kingdom (110,942), Germany (103,912), and France (84,380).

TAT’s research has identified the need to position these secondary 55 provinces within the “big picture” of Thailand’s development. The plan is to create conceptual models that are specific to each secondary province; such as, a sports city in Buri Ram and a wellness city in Chiang Rai. he research has shown that there are more than 4,000 tourist attractions and over 8,000 accommodation units in the secondary destinations as of 2018. This creates enormous opportunities to help each of them look unique and interesting. The promotion is in line with the government’s policy to promote and strengthen the tourism sector with inspiring attractions, strengthen the foundations of tourism, and make it a major source of progress in the secondary destinations nationwide. The most visited secondary destinations (hosting over 100,000 tourists) are Nong Khai, Udon Thani, Chiang Raiand Mae Hong Son. The cities receiving between 55,001-100,000 tourists are Ubon Ratchathani, Mukdahan and Satun.
