पाकिस्तान कराचीमा ९९ जना सवार विमान दुर्घटनाग्रस्त भएको छ । ९१ जना यात्रु र आठजना चालकदलका सदस्य रहेका बताइएको उक्त विमान लाहोरबाट कराचीस्थित जिन्नाह अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय विमानस्थल तर्फको उडानमा रहेको थियो। विमानमा सवार यात्रु र चालकदलका सदस्यको सङ्ख्याका बारे फरक फरक विवरणहरू आइरहँदा यसअघि यो समाचारमा उल्लेख गरिएको सङ्ख्या सच्याइएको छ। विमान दुर्घटनामा परेपछि धुँवाको मुस्लो देखिएको भिडिओ र तस्बिर सामाजिक सञ्जालमा राखिएका छ।

अवतरण गर्ने क्रममा जिन्नाह अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय विमानस्थलभन्दा ३.२ किलोमिटर पर रहेको कराचीको एउटा बस्ती, मोडेल कोलोनी नजिकै उक्त विमान दुर्घटनाग्रस्त भएको बताइएकोछ।

During the 14th Uganda presidential address to the nation on COVID-19 since the lockdown on March 21, President Yoweri Museveni ordered that gorilla and chimpanzee tracking should remain closed to tourists citing the easy spread of the virus to apes and primates.

“Bwindi for the Mountain Gorillas and Kibale Forest, chimpanzees. We do not want the virus to spread to our relatives,” the President said. The rest of the country’s national parks remain closed including The Uganda Wildlife Education Centre in Entebbe and Jane Goodall Chimpanzee Sanctuary on Ngamba Island (sadly also affected by a recent rise in water levels on Lake Victoria) both of which have had to appeal for funds to feed their animals due to a lack of revenues from entrance collections.

President Museveni acknowledged that Ugandans living abroad were spending US$1.3 billion per annum – more than US$416 million in foreign earnings from coffee, but less than US$1.6 billion from tourism. “International borders and airports remain closed to avoid the importation of new cases,” he added.

Generally, the tourism sector led by the trade associations including the Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO), Uganda Safari Guides Association (USAGA), and Uganda Hotel Owners Association (UHOA) under their apex body Uganda Tourism Association (UTA) have been the most-affected sector and have continued to engage in dialogue through Zoom and Facebook conferencing moderated most recently by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and industry experts in order to come up with a “white paper.”

With business grinding to a halt, they are seeking assistance from government and donor agencies to support their employees and rent in arrears; rescheduling of loans mainly taken by hotels and lodges marketing; and to create a “Tourism Fund” for micro-credit, loans, social security, and tax benefits for sustainable business operations.

भूतपूर्व परराष्ट्र मन्त्री भेषबहादुर थापा नेपाल र भारत दुवैले विवादित मानेको भूमिमा भारतले आफ्नो हिसाबले काम गरेको अवस्थामा नेपालले प्रतिक्रिया जनाएको बताउँछन्। सीमासम्बन्धी विवादका विषयमा कुनै पनि मुलुकसँग सम्झौता गर्ने छुट नहुने बाटोमा अघि बढ्नुपर्ने बताउँछन्। “नेपाल र भारत सम्बन्धमा उतारचढाव नदेखिएको होइन। नेपालले आफ्नो नक्सा निकाल्दै गर्दा पनि सम्वादको बाटो त्यागेको छैन। भारत पनि यस अघिसम्म सम्वादकै पक्षमा देखिएको थियो।”

कञ्चनपुरका नागरिकको नाकामै र्‍यापिड डाइग्नोस्टिक टेस्ट (आरडीटी) विधिबाट कोरोना परीक्षण गरेर  १४ सयभन्दा बढी नेपाली स्वदेश फर्किन जम्मा भएका छन् । सीमा क्षेत्रमा स्वास्थ्यकर्मीले कैलाली र कञ्चनपुरका नागरिकको आरडीटी परीक्षण गरिरहेका छन् । बिहीबार पनि कैलालीको गौरिफन्टा नाकाबाट ८५८ जना नेपालीलाई स्वदेश फर्काइएकोमा ८ सय मात्र आरडीटी किट रहेकाले सबैको परीक्षण गराउन नसकिने बताईएको छ ।

Following the news that Spain aims to open up to overseas holidaymakers by late June, travel industry experts offered their view on the current situation:

Spain was the third most visited country in the world last year, welcoming 83.7 million international tourists. According to the experts, that number will drop dramatically to 50.2 million tourists in 2020. This decrease highlights the devastating impact that COVID-19 is having on Spanish tourism and the wider Spanish economy.

There are many factors Spain cannot control. For example, UK officials have suggested potential measures such as all nationals who have been abroad must self-isolate for two weeks on their return. These measures will significantly impact how British tourists travel abroad, which will have a knock-on effect on how quickly the Spanish tourism industry can recover – as 23.7% of Spain’s visitors in 2019 were from the UK, which is Spain’s biggest inbound market.

Spanish transport minister Jose Luis Abalos has stated that the country is planning on welcoming back tourism in late July, however, there are a number of obstacles that stand in the country’s way.

Firstly, holidaymakers thinking of going to Spain will need to be convinced that it is safe. Spain has had the fifth highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide, a number that could deter potential visitors. Officials need to put stringent measures in place to reassure visitors that their health is the upmost priority.

Secondly, Spain needs to be affordable. Businesses need to avoid the temptation to raise prices to make up for lost time as holidaymakers will be looking for cheap deals. Offering discounts may just convince sceptical visitors of going on holiday – a similar strategy was successfully adopted post-9/11.

एनआरएनए न्यूजर्सी च्यापटरका अध्यक्ष समर बुढाथोकी (समीर) का अनुसार यो न्यूजर्सीमा कुनै पनि नेपालीलाई समस्या नपरोस भन्ने हेतुले हाम्रो च्यापटर सम्पूर्ण किसिमले तयारी अवस्थामा रहेको बताए। यो बेला समस्या नलूकाई भन्नु पर्ने बेला हो । म अपील गर्छु “यो दुःख को घडीमा सबै मिलेर नै समस्याको हल गर्नेछौं”। एआरएनए न्यूजर्सी “सबै नेपालीको साथमा छ एक्लो महसूस नगर्न हुन अनुरोध समेत गर्दछु।” बुढाथोकीले द पावरन्यूजलाई जानकारी दिए ।

The first and primary Pujari (priest) of  BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, at 43-38, Bowne Street, Flushing, NY 11355,  Pujari Pratapbhai Raval has passed away on May 13 2020, at the age of 93 years He is survived by his son Priyam Raval and family.   

During his life he served as one of the first Hindu priests in New York at the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir New York. He had the honor of  serving the Hindu community at the behest of his gurus His Holiness Yogiji Maharaj, His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, and His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj for over forty years. He served BAPS in Mumbai and thereafter he served as the Pujari in both London and New York BAPS mandirs.   With his exceptional service, he was instrumental in guiding and encouraging hundreds of Indian-Americans over the years. He was an ideal example of a dedicated, selfless sevak. He has personally helped many many new immigrants. He went out of way to help the community. We would like to pay our tribute to the selfless sevak who dedicated his entire life in serving humanity and pray for the Divine Being to take this departed soul to His heavenly abode(Akshardham).

South Asian Community Leader Dilip Chauhan said, Pratapkaka’s loss is a loss for the entire Indian American Community.  My sincere condolences to the entire BAPS Community of North America and India. He lived his life according to his guru’s wishes, and has instilled the same values to his beloved grandson, Urdhva Raval.
