Bird of Paradise – Beautiful Flowers In The World

Bird of Paradise – Beautiful Flowers In The World

It’s definitely a confusing name. Actually, bird of paradise is an exotic plant native to South Africa. On blooming, its pretty flowers look exactly like the bird of paradise in flight. That’s why it named so. Bird of paradise is also called as crave flower. This unusually beautiful flower symbolizes the paradise itself.  A mature bird of paradise plant bloom from May through September. On blooming, each flower has three, upright, orange-colored sepals and three, horizontal, blue, inner sepals. The plant also has long, green leaves. Altogether, this flower resembles a flying, bird of paradise, one of the most colorful birds in the world.

Bird of paradise grows well in outdoors. It needs full sunshine. Once the flowers fade away, you should cut back the stems to encourage next level of blooming.

Rainfall to continue for few more days – Rainfall is gradually receding

KATHMANDU: Though incessant rainfall is gradually receding, the western part of Nepal may still get continuous rainfall for few more days, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division. According to the information provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs, 75 people were killed, 31 injured and 12 went missing due to landslides and floods till July 28.  “The continuous downpour has decreased since two or three days back and there is improvement in the weather. But, caution should be observed as rain is likely in the western region,” The heavy rain for last one week has resulted in a big loss of lives and property as it triggered landslides in the hilly region and inundations in the Tarai area. Kathmandu received 12 millimetres, Taplejung 23 millimetres, Okhaldhunga 33 millimetres and Dadeldhura 19 millimetres rainfall today, the Division stated.

NEPAL AND TOURISM PROMOTION

NEPAL AND TOURISM PROMOTION

Sunita Sharma  New York :- It feels sad to know that the grime ailing scenario at the Tourism Sector hasn’t changed much in many ways till date in Nepal. Prime, Picturesque and Exotic Pokhara a major locale is a destination unparalleled to any other amongst Nature’s abundance. The Machhapuchhre peak is surely one of its kind of Rare Gem in the Great Himalayan Range gifted with a dozen other famous ones. This priceless and unique beauty is sold cheap to the hungry eyed discerning travellers from all over the World, for a handful of peanuts like prices….?

It should be rather rated as one of the best and the most popular Touristic Destinations in the entire region of Asia Pacific itself. To acheive this desired status for Pokhara, the Hotel Operators, Travel Agents and National as well as International Media have to play a vital role to portray it positively. Coming from almost over a decade of Hotel and Hospitality background, in a way it seems of some genuine concern for me too on issues vital like these in this sector. Tourism Promotion is the key agenda for the NRNA Movement that can be much effective and crucial for the overall development of Nepal through economic prosperity.

I also feel that each one of us, the NRNs residing abroad are the unofficial Ambassadors and Goodwill Friends to promote Nepal in some or the other way. This is how I myself feel about Destination Nepal and the Promotion of Tourism in a holistic manner for a better priced market. Last but not the least the current Tourism Promotion Task Force unit of NRNA which is headed by Our V.P. Bhaban Bhatta has been a great accomplishment of recent times. It seems to have greater Prospects for this sector is what I do beleive in. All other units related with Tourism if work closely and in proper coordination in all necessary spheres may bring substantive as well as positive changes in this area.

The Nepal Tourism Board, The Tourism Ministry and other stakeholders like Hotel n Hospitality industry and Travel, Treks public operators and the Small Hotel Association of Nepal are vital partners that need to work together in unison for promotion of Tourism. Participation of the energetic Youth Force and Public participation are equally considered to be beneficial for Tourism’s brighter future Prospects in the years to come and then Nepal will hopefully see economic Prosperity through the untapped potential of Nepal,s Natural Richness through proper Tourism Promotion.

What The Sun Looks Like From Other Planets

What The Sun Looks Like From Other Planets

What does the sun look like from Earth? No need to wonder ― we can simply gaze skyward and see its glowing disk from our orbital perch 93 million miles away.

What does the sun look like from other planets? Given the vast and disparate distances, it’s not so easy to imagine. But digital renderings just created by Ron Miller, a Virginia-based illustrator who has spent decades depicting outer space, help answer that tricky question. They show the sun as it appears in the sky of each of the eight planets (along with our favorite dwarf planet, Pluto).

To make the renderings realistic, Miller had to figure out how big to make the sun in each image ― but that wasn’t especially difficult to do.

“The only important thing to know is how far one is from the sun,” he told The Huffington Post in an email. “If, for instance, you are 20 times further away from the sun than the Earth, then the sun will be 20 times smaller.”

And as the inverse square law tells us, the intensity of light from an object falls off with the square of the distance. So, for example, sunlight is about 900 times dimmer on Neptune than on Earth because Neptune is about 30 times farther from the sun (30 x 30 = 900). So maybe skip the sunscreen.

But why mess with math when you can scroll down to see Miller’s starkly beautiful images…

    • Mercury
      Ron Miller
The sun as seen from Mercury, which is about 36 million miles from the sun or 39 percent of the distance from Earth to the sun. On Mercury, the sun looms about three times larger than it does on Earth.
    • Venus
      Ron Miller
The sun as (almost) seen from Venus, which is about 67 million miles from the sun (72 percent of the distance from Earth to the sun). Seen from beneath Venus’ dense, sulfuric acid-laden clouds, the sun is no more than a dimly glowing patch in the perpetual overcast. If it could be seen, it would be about half again larger than it appears in Earth’s sky.
    • Earth
      Ron Miller
Earth is 93 million miles from the sun. At this distance, the sun covers an area in the sky about half a degree wide. The moon covers the same area. This means that when the moon passes between the sun and our planet, we are treated to a solar eclipse like the one shown here.
    • Mars
      Ron Miller
The sun as seen from Mars, which is about 142 million miles from the sun. Since Mars is one-and-a-half times farther from the sun than Earth is, the sun appears correspondingly smaller in the planet’s dusty sky.
    • Jupiter
      Ron Miller
The sun as seen from Europa, one of Jupiter’s moons. Jupiter is about 484 million miles from the sun, or about 5.2 times farther than the distance from Earth to the sun. Here we see Jupiter about to eclipse a sun five times smaller than the one we see from Earth. Sunlight passing through the planet’s dense atmosphere illuminates it in a ring of red light.
    • Saturn
      Ron Miller
The sun as seen from Saturn, which is about 888 million miles from the sun. That’s about 9.5 times farther than the distance from Earth to the sun. Here, crystals of water and gases including ammonia refract the sunlight, creating beautiful optical effects such as haloes and sundogs. Although sunlight is about 100 times dimmer on Saturn than on Earth, the sun would still be far too bright to look at without eye protection.
    • Uranus
      Ron Miller
The sun as seen from Ariel, one of Uranus’s moons. Uranus is about 1.8 billion miles from the sun, or about 19 times farther than the distance from Earth to the sun.
    • Neptune
      Ron Miller
The sun as seen from Triton, one of Neptune’s moons. Neptune is about 2.8 billion miles from the sun. That’s about 30 times farther than the distance from Earth to the sun. Clouds of dust and gas spewing from one of Triton’s powerful cryogeysers are partially obscuring a tiny sun, now but one-thirtieth the size as seen from Earth.
    • Pluto
      Ron Miller
The sun as seen from Pluto, which has an average distance from the sun of about 3.7 billion miles. That’s about 40 times the distance from Earth to the sun. From here, the sunlight is 1,600 times dimmer than on Earth. Still, that’s 250 times brighter than a full moon here on Earth — bright enough to outshine every other object in the sky and hard to look at directly. Source :- huffingtonpost.com
