March 30, 2015 – Earth Hour swept across 24 time zones and 6 continents on March 28 at 8:30 PM local time. Even the International Space Station participate.  In the week leading up to Earth Hour, social media reached hundreds of millions: the reach for Twitter was over 378 million, and it was close to 6 million via Facebook. The Earth Hour video was viewed over 36 million times. There were 172 countries that participated in this important event that draws attention to the need for climate change, with 66 going beyond the event’s one-hour lights out timeframe. Over 1,400 iconic landmarks around the globe turned off their lights as well, and there were close to 42,000 events celebrating Earth Hour.
