THE MISSING PIECE TO MOST SMALL BUSINESSES MARKETING PUZZLE

PORTLAND, OR – 01/16/2018 (PRESS RELEASE JET) — Though we know video is king far too many brands have not fully committed to this medium. Fear of the camera, embarrassment, or not just sure what to say- many excuses float around a business about why they aren’t playing all in.

Emmy Wu, owner of Emmy Wu Media (http://emmywumedia.com) and expert video strategist for Success Network’s hit reality TV show Fix My Brand With Ali Craig™ (http://fixmybrandwithalicraig.com) says, “It often our own lack of belief about what we can create in this world that leads you in circles, or causes you to throw in the towel early”

Videos help engage the senses while creating stronger memories within the mind of the viewer. And because they are so sensory stimulating we tend to engage longer with the piece than we would with just flat copy.

Wu says,” Video is the full package on how to engage with our audience. And anyone can do it. You no longer need fancy equipment to make a compelling video as long as you know the story you want to be told.”

Wu always advises her small business clients to think of the story first before they ever start thinking about the logistics of the video. “Humans are hardwired for stories,” says Wu. Wu goes on to say “If you have a compelling story- your video will convert.”

Get the story. Make the video. Reap the marketplace rewards.

There’s a lot to prepare for when getting ready to give birth, but there’s one thing Kylie Jenner can check off her list: putting together her daughter’s nursery. “Kylie is doing well. She seems very happy,” a source close to the pregnant reality starand beauty guru tells PEOPLE. “She is all about the baby.” The source adds that the 20-year-old’s mother Kris Jenner has been “helping her” prepare for the arrival of her first child with boyfriend Travis Scott and that “the nursery is ready.” Jenner and Scott first started dating in April 2017.

Jenner is just one of the KarJenner members to be welcoming a new addition to the family in 2018. Sister Kim Kardashian West welcomed her third child, daughter Chicago, via surrogate on Jan. 15, while sister Khloé Kardashian is currently expecting her first child with boyfriend Tristan Thompson.pregnant-kylie-jenner-spotted-public

And even though the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star is nervous about becoming a mother, the insider says “she will be a great mom.” “Kylie is anxious about the birth, but excited to meet her baby,” the source continues, adding that she is “never alone” and either “sleeps at Kris’ house” or her best friend Jordyn Woods “stays with Kylie at her place.” “She has a great support network,” the insider explains. “Of course she is young to be a mom, but her family will do everything to help her. She will be a great mom.”

World’s longest urban zipline in Dubai

With the launch of the world’s longest urban zipline, the opening of the Frame, Zaha Hadid’s’ ‘The Opus’ building, and a six-week special of world renown Van Gogh’s Alive exhibition, Dubai is setting the scene for a very exciting 2018. Providing entertainment for thrill seekers and culture vultures alike, as well a range of activities for families too, Dubai continues to surprise and amaze with stunning new attractions and world-class developments.

The world’s tallest hotel is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2018 in Dubai. It will have 528 rooms spread right up to the 75th floor and will be356 meters high. To put its huge stature in perspective, Gevora Hotel will be more than three times taller than London’s Big Ben, 56 meters taller than Paris’ Eiffel Tower, and around equal to the length of three football pitches. Located on Sheikh Zayed Road in the Trade Centre area, the hotel will feature four restaurants, swimming pools for adults and children, a Jacuzzi facility, a health club, a luxury spa and gymnasiums.

Rising 150 meters high and 93 meters wide, the Dubai Frame is an impressive and imposing architectural landmark that unites the city’s past, present and future. Its two vertical towers are connected by a 100-square-metre bridge that features a 25-square-metre glass panel in the center, offering a great 360-degree view of the city. The bridge serves as an observation deck providing uninterrupted views of old Dubai to the north and new Dubai to the south. Visitors begin their journey by learning about the history of Dubai in the Past Gallery, with picturesque projections depicting Bedouin life, camels and the infinite sands of the desert. Visitors then move on to augmented reality-activated screens on the Sky Deck level that showcase present-day Dubai, before walking through a specially designed ‘vortex tunnel’ to a virtual metropolis representing the future of Dubai.

Currently standing as the world’s longest urban zip line, extending a full kilometer from a height of 170 meters to ground level, the XLine Dubai Marina is now open to the public. The line features an incline of 16 degrees and reaches an average top speed of 80 kilometers per hour. This new edition is twice the length of its forerunner and features two zip lines running adjacent to one another. Guests can try the superman-style harness, suspending daredevils horizontally as they zip from one of the Amwaj towers in JBR down to the terrace of Dubai Marina Mall.

Coral restoration technique may boost success

Island nation like Seychelles, the loss of coral reefs has impacts in tourism and fishing, two of the country’s key economic sectors. Yet protecting coral is a priority because of climate implications too, and new research from SECORE International – a global network of scientists and coral conservationists – shows promise with a new coral reef restoration technique. That may prove a benefit for the Seychelles, which is home to one of the most ambitious restoration programs in the world. Conservationists there have grown some 50,000 coral fragments in an underwater nursery, and divers have planted by hand an area the size of a football field in a Cousin Island reserve. It’s all part of the effort to combat devastating coral losses because of bleaching related to warming waters and climate change, as well as other ecosystem impacts from storms, pollution, or mechanical damage from boats or construction.

“If we want restoration to play a more meaningful role in coral reef conservation, we need to think in new directions,” said project leader and executive director Dr. Dirk Petersen. “Our sowing approach is an important step towards reaching this goal since it will allow the handling of large numbers of corals in a very short amount of time at significantly lower costs.”

Transparency of Hawaii’s ocean resources tourism

HONOLULU, HI – During the last update of the Office of Planning’s Coastal Zone Management Program’s plan in 2013, a state performance measures website was requested during the public outreach process as a means to evaluate the implementation of the Hawaii Ocean Resources Management Plan’s (ORMP) stated objectives. The ORMP Dashboard was created to fulfill this request and provide a platform for ongoing information sharing. The website assesses progress in fulfilling ORMP’s management priorities and goals by tracking 84 metrics, indicators of performance or progress.

“The successful implementation of the ORMP and the creation of the ORMP Dashboard are the result of cooperation and commitment on the part of Hawaii’s state agencies, county and federal partners, non-governmental organizations, and private parties dedicated to the collaborative management of Hawaii’s invaluable resources,” said Office of Planning Director Leo Asuncion.   The office today announced the launch of the Hawaii ORMP Dashboard in response to that request which will protect perhaps tourism’s most important asset – the beautiful Pacific Ocean. “The dashboard is the result of a culmination of state, county, and federal partners working towards implementation of the ORMP,” explained Justine Nihipali, CZM Program Manager. “We recognized the importance of this public request to show accountability towards how agencies have been and are currently taking action to achieve the goals of the plan, and we look towards the dashboard as a resource to demonstrating its ongoing progress.” The dashboard will be continually updated as new data becomes available and will be used to guide the next iteration of the ORMP, which will be updated beginning mid-2018.

“Tokyo Big Sight” global tourism for Tourism EXPO Japan

The world of tourism will be looking at Japan during the upcoming Tourism EXPO Japan set for September 20-23, 2018. The event will be held at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center, also known as “Tokyo Big Sight.”  The name “Tokyo Big Sight” in Japanese eventually became the official name of the venue, and it also has become the name of the operator since April 2003. And calling it “Big Sight” is an understatement. “Tokyo Big Sight” is a convention and exhibition center in Tokyo, Japan, and the largest international convention venue in the country. Opened in April 1996, the center is located in the Ariake Minami district of Tokyo Waterfront City Rinkai fukutoshin on the waterfront of Tokyo Bay. Its most iconic feature is the visually-distinctive Conference Tower.

This year, Tourism EXPO Japan is expected to welcome 40,000 attendees from the tourism industry, as well as over 100,000 from the general public. The 1.5 days of business meetings and appointments are a great opportunity to promote tourism, and the 2 weekend days will see over 100,000 people from the general public attend.

Visitors love Chicago and a record travel and tourism year

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Choose Chicago today announced that visitors to the city in 2017 reached 55.2 million – a new record and 2.5 percent increase over the previous year. The increase of 1.4 million reaches the Mayor’s ambitious goal of 55 million visitors annually – two years early. Chicago’s tourism industry supported an estimated 146,500 jobs in 2017, a 17 percent increase since Mayor Emanuel took office.

To build on that progress, the Global Business Travel Association has committed to hosting their Annual Convention in July of 2019 which is the world’s largest business travel event. More than 7,000 business travel professionals from around the world will gather in Chicago at McCormick Square for state-of-the-art education, exclusive networking opportunities and news on the latest innovations in the industry. “The visitor results and impact is clearly a team win,” said Choose  Chicago Board Chair, Desiree Rogers. “This is the result of a truly collaborative effort of all partners of Chicago’s visitor and meeting industry.  Our goal now will be to harness this momentum and continue to build upon it.”

On the other hand Chicago is known as the murder city of the world. This is an ironic and strange combination. “Tourism in Chicago means jobs throughout Chicago,” Mayor Emanuel said. “By continuing to set new tourism records and bring millions of more people to Chicago every year, we are generating economic opportunities that reach every Chicago neighborhood.” Prior to 2011, there were an estimated 124,400 tourism-related positions. The projected 55.2 million visitors to Chicago in 2017 generated an estimated additional 22,000 jobs.

2017 marked another major increase in leisure visitors to the city as Chicago hotels reported an overall annual increase of 6.3 percent. This increase of the leisure segment was particularly strong in the key summer months as hotels reported an increase of 7.4 percent during the four-month period June through September – more than double the growth of the previous summer. Overall, Chicago hotel demand in terms of rooms occupied grew 3.3 percent in 2017. Another key segment generating overnight visitors is the important convention and meetings industry convening at McCormick Place. Of the largest 40 conventions held, 21 achieved increased attendance over their prior year event including 10 that experienced all time attendance records.  Seven of the 40 largest conventions broke previous records in terms of the sale of exhibit space – another encouraging industry trend. “The combination of record-setting growth in leisure visitors accompanied by record-setting results from the major conventions that choose to meet here is an outstanding barometer for the overall success of Chicago as a thriving destination,” Choose Chicago President & CEO, David Whitakersaid. “The impact of the visitor and meetings economy translates into increases in jobs, tax receipts from visitor spending as well as helping fuel the city’s reputation as not only an amazing place to live, work and play – but also an amazing place to visit and invest in.” The positive momentum being generated is also helping fuel industry growth as Chicago opened five new hotels in 2017 with another eight new hotels currently scheduled to open in 2018.

Nuclear attack is a reality not only in Hawaii

Hawaii was under a real attack this morning. This was real even if the physical attack emergency alert was canceled and no bomb hit the Aloha State. It was a real wake up calls for visitors and residents alike. The fact people had to think for almost an hour about their upcoming end was a torture experience many visitors will remember when booking their next Hawaii trip for a long time to come. It was not a drill. The false emergency message instructed every person in Hawaii to look for shelter.

There was nothing explained where and what or how?

It caused panic among visitors and locals alike not knowing what to do, many calling their wifes, husband, parents, sisters, son, and daughters to tell them they love them. This Saturday morning was a nightmare for everyone in Hawaii and it was unnecessary. There is no excuse for someone to be able to press a wrong button. The governor’s apology was laughable if it wasn’t that serious of a situation. There is no excuse that it was impossible in Hawaii to call 911 for more than 40 minutes from mobile phones and most home or office phone. There should have been a plan two to make sure emergency calls are responded to. A simple recording saying there was no threat and to stay on the line for any other emergency would have done it.
